Make-Over For A Good Cause!

From long and luscious....

(These pics are not the greatest... but they are the BEFORE so I guess it ok to post them...)

TO....

Short and sassy!

I cut off 11 inches of my hair to donate to Locks Of Love. This is my 4th time donating hair. I am donating this hair in honor of my friend Kari who has breast cancer. She has been through much more than I could ever handle! She has 3 young children and a husband, she is doing fine right now, but there is always that risk.

Here is my hair that got chopped off:

Trucks and Balloons

We went to Jason's work family picnic. It was full of trucks and balloons so Kyan LOVED it. He could not get enough of either one of them. We all got to ride in an off-road dump truck. Kyan played in a sand pit and Jason and I got to try a back-hoe. We ate some hot dogs and chips. Fun was had by all!
Here are some pictures of the day!

All the kids got these orange hats (perfect for Ky!) and he kept it on all day!

Playing by/in the sand pit. He was more interested in the toy trucks than the sand.

Yes- Mommy was there too! :)

Here are a couple videos that I took:

You can hear him say "Guck" (truck) in this one at about 8 seconds.

In this one you can see him do his happy dance! : )

Not Back to School

Yesterday was the first time that I haven't gone "back to school" is 26 years! Weird, huh!?! It feels like it is still summer. To be honest, I am not one bit sad about it! I love my reason for not going back! KYAN!

I am technically going "back to school", since I am teaching one day a week at a home school co-op. But it is not the same as getting ready for teaching full time. I don't have a classroom that I have to set up. I didn't have workshop week. I wont have 35+ students in each class (my new classes are capped at 12!)

It is a perfect job for me. My work week is 1 day a week, 4.5 hours for that day -FREE daycare. Yep, a 6 day weekend and 1 day workweek. PERFECT!

Norman "Pool" Party

We had Jason's family over this weekend for a pool party. The end of August sounds pretty promising for pool weather doesn't it?

Well, even though my pool looked like this:
Very inviting right?
No one went swimming (except for Brent, who got thrown in by Jason and Justin, with all of his clothes on!) because it was 65 degrees out and the water temp was colder than that!! NOT swimming weather! So we played outside instead!

Here are some of the pictures I got:

Kyan and Tate riding in the wagon.

Auntie Anna pulling the boys.

Playing with the tee-ball game Hunter got for his birthday.

Kyan getting hit in the face with a ball that Brent hit! ....He was fine!

You may be wondering.... "Were Jason's parents there? Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Steve?" Yes, they were, they are just good at eluding the camera!

How do you keep a 1 year busy while you make supper?

He did this for the whole time I was making dinner the other night, with no prompting from me. I think it could be good practice for mowing the lawn, shoveling the driveway, vacuuming the living room... : )

Winnie the Pooh

I also think he looks a bit like and Ewok! : )

9 months!

Yesterday, Aug. 5th, was Kyan's 9 month-aversary since coming home. This is a big deal to us because now we have cared for Kyan longer than any one else did when he was in Korea. Now Jason and I have had him the LONGEST! That is pretty exciting to us!

So I will leave you with this video of Ky playing with a ball I got from the Dollar Store (best buck I've spent in a while!) He played with it for the longest time! I think he may want to sleep with it tonight! He just figured out that it bounces high on the hardwood floor. Please excuse the mess... I have a toddler! : )

My Son Sorts His Food

Yesterday when I came back to check on how Ky was doing eating his crackers, this is what I found:

He had sorted out all of the pretzel ones into to cup slot. These crackers had come in a bag that had the 2 mixed up. He ate all of the cheddar ones and left the pretzels.

Than this morning I came upon this while he was eating his breakfast:

he had sorted out all the banana and than ate all the grapes. (When I put them on his plate they were all mixed up.)

The math person in me is SO EXCITED that he is already sorting... we may have a math genius on our hands... however, the picky-eater in me is thinking... he probably just is sorting his food because he is also a picky eater!
