Playing at the Park

It had FINALLY been nice enough out for us to go to the park and play. It is so nice to get outdoors. We have gone a couple times now with our Tuesday play date. I have a standing Tuesday play date with my SIL, cousin and friends (and kids of course). It is a fun thing for Kyan to see other kids.

Kyan favorite thing at the park is the swing. He loves to have the wind in his face so it is perfect. He is not much of a slide fan. He also likes to eat the wood chips.

Here are some pictures from a couple weeks ago of Ky playing at the park!

Happy Birthday To ME!!!

Today is my 31st birthday. Surprisingly 31 is a much easier birthday than 30. Turning 30 was hard for me to swallow... but it seems that 31 is not so bad.

It is my first birthday as a MOM! Which is very cool. Jason really did a great job and had Kyan give me some presents and a card this year (the card made me cry, of course) It was very sweet.

We spent the day as a family at the Mall Of America. They had a Korean Expo. We saw a food demo, some break dancing, traditional Korean music and a Korean Hanbok fashion show. It was really fun to be in the Korean culture of Minnesota. There were lots of families with adopted kids from Korea as well and it is neat to have that instant link with someone you don't know. Jason and I were reminded of how nice Korean people are. We really do love that culture and love to be around it so it was a great way to spend my birthday.

I share a birthday with my cousin Angela. She is four years younger than me (exactly). Every year we go out to Don Pablo's to celebrate with the girls (this year was great because Jason could watch Kyan). Sharing our birthdays has always been one of my favorite things about my birthday. I think that it is great that even as a adults (and mommy's) we can still make time to get together. So Happy birthday to you too Angela! We also share a birthday with Al Pacino and Renée Zellweger But they are not invited to our celebration! : )

Kyan can feed himself!

This past week Kyan started to put food into his mouth by himself! As many of you know he has not done this before. He will pick up food off his tray. He will eat food you put into his mouth but he would not do himself. We attributed it to his "kingly" attitude!

One of my friends suggested that I try to have him feed me out of his hand, and see where it lead to. I thought this was an excellent idea so at lunch I had him feed me cheerios while I fed him cheerios. we had such fun, he loved it! Later that day we were eating another snack (lil' crunches by Gerber) and as he was reaching to put it into my mouth he stopped and looked and thought about it and than put it into his mouth. He has been putting stuff in his mouth ever since (some food and some non-food) Guess we have to watch what is on the floor now!

He was on the poach while I went to go get something in the kitchen and when I came back he had pulled the Graham crackers off the table and was sitting eating them as fast as he could. What did I do? I grabbed my camera and took some pictures:

5 months

This weekend marked 5 months since Kyan has come home. It is hard to believe that it has been that short and that long at the same time. In some ways it feels like we were just coming home on the airplane, but when you love someone as much as we love our little boy it is hard to remember him not being part of our family!

This past month Ky has really taken off (literally!)

He is totally on the go. Long gone are the days were he would sit and play in one spot. He is pulling up on furniture and walking around leaning against walls, and other objects. When we go to get him when he is crying in his crib he is standing at the railing waiting for us to pull him out. He is so close to walking by himself, it is not going to be long. He also can climb stairs, all the way to the top.

He also loves to throw balls (and other toys). He think that it is his job to empty anything that has stuff in it. He says "ah oh" when he throws something on the floor. He is still calling Jason-Ahpa and me- Ahma. He plays peek-a-boo with his hands. He can touch his nose when asked to and waves and claps.

He is getting to have a cute sense of humor that cracks Jason and I up all the time. In the bath he likes to stick his face in the water and blow bubbles and when he comes up he has a bubble beard.

We love our Kyan! Happy Five months Buddy!

On a side note->It is now April, which is my birthday month (same would say the BEST MONTH of the year!) My birthday is only 19 days away! But, who is counting??? ; )
